Thursday, September 12, 2013 – Emergency Officials worked a very serious 2 vehicle accident on Highway 45 at the intersection of County Road 210 in Shubuta. The Paramedics & the Coroner has confirmed one person is dead after running a stop sign at the intersection. A 18 wheeler from Florida was passing through at the same time and struck the vehicle as it came across US Highway 45. Names will be released at this time only after the family notification process. Their is still a ongoing pending investigation into the crash by the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Quitman Fire & Rescue, Shubuta Fire Department, Clarke County Sheriff Deputies, & MDOT officials assisted with the scene.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol says the driver of the blue Chevy Cavalier was 22-year-old Traundra James who pulled onto Highway 45 from County Road 210 and into the path of an 18-wheeler.
James’ vehicle was struck on the driver’s side and she was pronounced dead at the scene by Clarke County Emergency Officials.
The driver of the 18 wheeler was 53-year-old Sainz B. Juan, from Live Oak, Florida was not injured during the crash. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation.
